Kids’ Birthday Party Magician in Jacksonville: What Happens at the Show

I have performed at kids’ birthday parties in Jacksonville for more than 20 years. This post walks through one of my shows, from the time I arrive to the time I leave, so a parent can picture it before booking. For prices, see How Much Does a Magician Cost in Jacksonville?.

Who the show is for

The show is built for children ages 4 and up. At that age, children follow the comedy and come up as volunteers with confidence. Younger brothers and sisters watch along, and so do the grown-ups.

Before the guests arrive

I arrive early and set up before the party starts. I bring my own tables and every prop. The show needs no electricity and no sound system from the house.

The ideal space is about 8 feet deep by 10 feet wide. A living room, a party room, a backyard or a park pavilion all work.

During the show

A birthday show runs one hour. Ninety minutes and two hours are also available.

Children come up as volunteers throughout the show. Much of the magic happens in their hands and inches from their faces. The routines use cards, ropes, sponge balls, cups and balls, and mind reading. The comedy stays clean from start to finish.

I match the show to the party’s theme and the ages in the room.

Where the show fits in the party

Everyone faces one direction and watches, so I do not perform the show while guests are eating. Tell me when food is served, and the show goes before it or after it.

Inside or outside

The show works indoors and outdoors. Any show outside a building, covered or not, carries a $100 outdoor fee.

What it costs

Kids’ birthday parties start at $525 for one hour and under 50 guests. More guests, longer shows, outdoor shows, and travel over 30 minutes from Jacksonville add to the price. The full table is in How Much Does a Magician Cost in Jacksonville?.

No deposit is required to book. Payment is due the day of the show by Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or cash. Paying by credit card requires a 3.5% fee, and I send an online invoice that is due the day before the show.

Jacksonville and the towns around it, including Jacksonville Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, St. Johns, Orange Park and Fernandina Beach.
